We build sober living communities where each

  1. We are New England’s premier sober living provider, with homes across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine.
  2. Despite their overall delight with Hyde Park, the Vanderbilts were not entirely pleased with certain aspects of its design.
  3. It appears that there is no slowing down Hunter Foote, Review Victory Programs and the communities the upstart nonprofit is creating throughout the city of Worcester, South County and beyond.

VSL Chartered Operators offer structured sober living for men and women where every guest is supported in their recovery journeys. Guests live together as a family to develop the tools and strengthen their character in order to live free from substance abuse. VSL homes allow for independence while guided by a set of recovery-focused house rules, standards, and expectations. Guests are engaged in their personal recovery journey by attending meetings and working with a sponsor and a House Mentor for support and encouragement. Guests adhere to a curfew, submit to drug and alcohol screenings, and participate in home and community events.

Ogden Codman would design Louise Vanderbilt’s suite, and Georges Glaenzer would design Mr. Vanderbilt’s bedroom, his office, the den, and the reception room. The formal rooms of the ground floor are arranged in a concise, classical plan. A large living room and corresponding dining room accentuate the north and south end of the transverse axis.

House Rules in Sober Houses

Sober homes screen guests for alcohol and drugs, enforce house rules and curfew, and each guest holds their brothers and sisters accountable. Though members of elite, wealthy society, Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt lived graciously without spectacle. Typical of the grand estates along the Hudson River, life at Hyde Park was rooted in the pleasures of the outdoors and genteel agrarian pursuits. House parties were leisurely and intimate, marked by games of golf or lawn tennis, carriage rides, and tea at neighboring estates. At Hyde Park, an extensive complex of greenhouses, formal gardens, and a model farm supplied flowers, produce, meats, and dairy for the Vanderbilt table wherever they were in residence.

Search sober living based on sober house location, gender served, and certification status. Hyde Park was a seasonal residence, one of a portfolio of homes the Vanderbilts owned in New York City, Bar Harbor, Newport, and the Adirondacks. The house designed for Frederick and Louise Vanderbilt by McKim, Mead, & White is a masterpiece of American architecture.

A further distinction is the rare overall carte blanche seemingly given McKim as chief architect on the design and furnishing of the ground floor reception rooms. Applications are accepted on our website, as well as faxed, e-mailed, or over the phone. We carefully screen each application and conduct a telephone screen prior to approval to ensure a good fit in our homes.
